Richard Spasoff
"Love leads the Way"
Review by Kerry Barnes
“Love Leads The Way” One of the shortest pieces by Richard, coming in at just 2.02 mins duration.
A lovely tapestry embroiders the chosen ensemble of instruments. Delicate piano, flute and strings pave the way, as the waters of foamy blue wear away the jagged rocks. The onset mood is quite laid back and thus there is more room for phrases to extend and copy themselves, a lovely musical device. (I’m actually trying phrase extensions in my own music!) As the beautiful call-and-response begins to emerge, it becomes clear that ‘love really does lead the way’ ……like a smooth current with embracing arms aloft. Moving into white-water, two faces appear, lovingly entwined sharing blonde and black hair, and as the music begins to intensify with a dash of Fugal-Stretto, they now know that love has lead these two hearts to rest as one, through the eyes of Richard Spasoff’s creative entity.
